Project Description:

An existing distribution facility utilized automated storage carousels to sort and distribute items to various locations throughout the facility.

Project Issues:
There was concern that the existing sprinkler system was insufficient to protect the automated carousels. The guidance given to protect the carousels was not feasible for operations and maintenance for the client.

Solutions:
Shaver Fire performed a field survey to determine the existing conditions of the facility and to get a better understanding of facility operations. Shaver Fire came up with a sprinkler protection strategy that was sufficient to protect the automated carousel storage. Shaver Fire presented the strategy to the AHJ and the Client and the strategy was accepted by the AHJ while also not affecting operations or maintenance of the facility.
