Project Description:

An existing abandoned agricultural facility was being retrofitted with new equipment for a new oil extraction process.

Project Issues:

The existing sprinkler system was obsolete and did not fit the new equipment or building layout. The existing sprinkler system design criteria were no longer adequate to protect the new processes utilizing Class 1 ignitable liquids.

Solutions:

Shaver Fire performed a field survey to determine what was required for the new processes. Shaver Fire designed a new foam-water deluge system and another water-only sprinkler system for a different area of the plant. We were able to design the system while still utilizing the existing fire pumps and water storage tank. In addition, we offered construction support throughout the project and was onsite to witness the testing and commissioning of the system.
